CYFI – Cyngular Fluids and Interfaces

The Team : Charles Collot and Christophe Prange are the two principal investigators. They recently joined the AGM laboratory. This scientific project aims at pursuing their recent lines of research, in the goal for them to apply to ERC fundings.

Scientific Goals : This project concerns challenging problems in mathematical fluid dynamics. This field aims at studying mathematically the properties of the solutions of equations that model fluid flows, and is a cornerstone between mathematical analysis, hydrodynamics and engineering. Our scientific project focuses on: A) the effect of interfaces in fluid dynamics, B) the development of singularities in flows. These related issues are central in the field, but recent developments in the last ten years (for singularities and uniqueness) have given a new perspective on longstanding open problems.

Organisation : One summer school will be organized, to stimulate their research and to favour in person interactions with foreign leading researchers. Long term research trips, to boost their scientific production, to strengthen their collaborative network consisting of researchers in top universities in US/Canada/UK/Japan, and to increase the visibility of their work via trips to interact with key scientists of other teams, will be funded.
